Off and Running in 2012

February 20th, 2012 by gra

STS is one step closer to their new facility.  The new construction to be located in Oak Ridge North Commerce Park will consist of two buildings containing 66,875 SF.  Both buildings (31,875 SF & 35,000 SF) will be pre-engineered with a 29’ eave height.  The manufacturing buildings will be designed for two 10 – ton cranes.  The site will consist of roughly 140,000 SF of paving for heavy duty traffic, storage and parking.  STS manufactures accumulator units which are primarily used to operate the B.O.P. on drilling rigs.  The company is also the western hemisphere distributor for SARA Sae, a manufacturer of pipe fittings, flanges, wellhead crosses and tees, API RTJ gaskets and Flow Iron.  The project is currently in the design phase and we are anticipating a winter 2012 completion.

More great news at GRA!

July 27th, 2011 by gra

Things continue to be crazy in the Houston market.  Our work in progress and under contract is up 400% over this time last year.  Last year was pretty brutal, but the turnaround has been nothing short of mind boggling.  The oil field continues to be the tail wagging the dog, but a number of other sectors are being represented – including medical, food distribution, and specialty metal fabricating. Thank God for being in Houston, Texas!  Last week we signed a contract for a new 50,000 sf Design-Build facility for Air-Sea International, a freight forwarding company.  The new facility will approximately double the size of their current warehouse and yard and utilize approximately 5.5 acres of a 19 acre tract.

Encouraging Houston Market

An encouraging sign in the Houston construction market is the resurgence in spec buildings.  After recently being awarded a contract with Southwind Properties for two buildings in Westborough Business Park we were awarded two projects by James Nelson with TNRG.  One is for two crane ready buildings on Cutten Rd. and the other is for four buildings near North Houston Rosslyn / West Rd.  One of these is a 30,000 SF crane ready structure.

OCuSoft Rosenberg to break ground

April 18th, 2011 by gra

GRA – Gulf Coast Construction is pleased to announce the ground breaking of the new OCuSoft facility in Rosenberg.  The ceremony will kick off construction on Wednesday April 13.  The team at OCuSoft selected a site on the Southwest Freeway with two existing buildings.  One of the buildings was used in the oil field industry and will quickly be torn down to make way for a new 48,000 sf air conditioned tilt wall building for product distribution.  The other building will have the interior and exterior updated as well.  Connecting the two buildings will be a metal and glass structure complete with more offices and an atrium.  This project should be completed in early 2012.

What’s going on at GRA?

February 10th, 2011 by gra

GRA – Gulf Coast Construction is extremely excited for what 2011 has in store for the company.  We will soon be lifting tilt wall panels on the Neopal project.  This 136,000 sf. building is our second LEED certified construction project with a goal of silver.  This design build warehouse is located near Intercontinental Airport and should be completed late this summer.

We have also broken ground on C and C Metals, a new 36,000 sf.  metal building construction project in the city of Conroe.  With cooperation from Mother Nature we should have the building delivered this month.

With other projects working down the pipeline coming together we are certainly looking forward to a busy year.  Like any business professionals we look forward to any challenges of bringing in and conquering more projects.  We are especially encouraged by the number of different businesses making inquiries.

Houston LEED Construction

Bizopia | Tilt Wall Construction Project

As a member of the U.S. Green Building Council, GRA Construction uses building strategies that allow most of our construction projects to have LEED certification (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design). The U.S. Green Building Council has strict performance measures when considering a project for LEED Certification.

Houston LEED Construction certification projects have to be designed to lower operating costs, reduce waste to landfills, conserve water as well as energy, be healthier and safer for their occupants, reduced greenhouse gas emissions and must demonstrate the owner’s commitment to to environmental and social responsibility.

Houston is lucky to have an expert in environmental design and construction.
